Kim Scott always admired the style, writing, and production work of the incomparable Paul Brown and really wanted to write/work with him. He obliged and sent her a groove that was so infectious that she came up with the verses, chorus, and adlibs with ease. Shane The riot co-wrote the song with them and it was a magical match! The song is inspired by the energy and feel-good vibes of Kim's hometown, Birmingham, Alabama, which holds the nickname, "Magic City". It got its nickname because of the drawing power of populations to the city due to its materials in the ground (limestone, coal, and iron ore). Kim likes to believe people are drawn to the Magic City because something special is always happening there!
